Imagine creating energy from thin air? Well, the technology is here.  The big question is: Are we civilians ever going to see it, did it just go bankrupt without producing a result, or is it already available?   here is the original article from 2003 which discusses how you can make hydrogen batteries that operate from the moisture in the air.  This is the inital link I found from the US DOE (dept of energy) which led me to the original article

This is the coolest bit of drudge i have dug up recently.  Seems we forget to notice these jewels and they are lost in the wide horizon of new technology, but I suggest we bring this idea back to the forefront.  I am so sick and tired of all the good technology that can save energy and stop all this global warming / energy consumption madness, and batteries are the biggie.  Every time we use a battery it will be thrown out!  Each battery that is thrown out has the potential to contaminate a large area of soil and a staggering amount of water.

We can stop this contamination by adopting clean batteries, and self renewing batteries that rely on air and moisture sound perfect!  I think the biggest problem is that it is not economical for the Corporations to accept free energy.
